GALWAY – A Ballston Spa man is accused of driving drunk without his required ignition interlock device, state police said.
John F. Bond, 40, was arrested Sunday and charged with felony driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. He also faces a count of operating without the ignition interlock device.
Troopers arrested Bond after a call for a suspicious vehicle in the area of Graves Road just before midnight Saturday, state police said.
They arrived to find Bond in a running vehicle, parked in the road, state police said.
Troopers smelled alcohol on his breath and he showed signs of intoxication. He failed sobriety tests. A breath test showed his blood alcohol content at 0.16 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08, troopers said.
The driving while intoxicated charge was elevated to a felony due to a prior DWI conviction, state police said.
Bond was arraigned and ordered held without bail. He was due back in court Thursday evening.
