LOUDONVILLE — Jalen Pickett secured the Siena College men’s basketball program its first-ever major award from the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Wednesday when the freshman was named the ECAC Division I Rookie of the Year.
Pickett also was named an All-ECAC second-team selection after a freshman season in which the MAAC Rookie of the Year had per-game averages of 15.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 2.1 steals for the Saints.
Pickett is only the fourth Siena player to ever earn an All-ECAC nod. Jack Mulvey was a first-team selection in 1965, while Alex Franklin and Ryan Rossiter earned second-team selections in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
