Schenectady won the boys’ team championship and Shenendehowa secured the girls’ title at Saturday’s Warrior Track and Field Classic at Niskayuna High School.

Schenectady’s Adrian Sanders won the boys’ field athlete of the meet on the strength of winning the discus throw and shot put, while New Rochelle’s Jesse Parson was track athlete of the meet after winning the 200 dash and 110 hurdles.

Amsterdam’s Lauren Santiago was named the girls’ track athlete of the meet after winning the 200 and 400 dashes, while Shenendehowa’s Chidera Anameze and Chidalu Anameze shared the field athlete of the meet honor. Chidera Anameze won the shot put and came in second in the discus throw, while Chidalu Anameze won the discus and came in second in the shot.

Schenectady edged second-place Columbia 65-63 for the boys’ championship, while Shenendehowa totaled 114 points to outpace second-place New Rochelle’s 96.5 for the girls’ team victory.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Drew Collins scored six goals in a 17-14 non-league win for Niskayuna against Lakeland, while Griffin King added three goals and six assists. Finn McCullough added a goal and three assists, while Dan Brownell, Jurgen Bach and Gabe Nish each added two scores.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake scored a 21-2 Suburban Council win against Albany with JD Townsend leading the way with six goals. In victory, Caden LaPietro had three goals and an assist, Ty McHerron registered two goals and four assists, and Gordy Adams, Jackson Bach and Ryan Salisbury each added two goals apiece.
Liam Ferris had three goals and an assist in Bethlehem’s 13-5 victory over Guilderland.

Lindsay Ayres scored six goals to lead Bethlehem to an 18-14 Suburban Council win against Guilderland. Mae Healy added three goals in the win. For Guilderland, Amanda Nieman and Lauren Thompson each had five goals.
MK Lescault had five goals and three assists in a 26-1 win for Burnt Hills against Albany. Allie Connelly had six goals.

BASEBALL

Ballston Spa cruised to a 16-2 Suburban Council win against Columbia as both Evan Fox and Donovan Rhoden hit home runs, with Rhoden’s blast coming with the bases loaded. Fox added a pair of doubles and had three total RBIs. For Columbia, Ryan Strevell hit a home run.

In the Western Athletic Conference, Schoharie won 18-6 against Canajoharie. Shane Helmstadt slugged two home runs for Schoharie and struck out a dozen batters while allowing two earned runs in six innings.

Jack Mardsen had two doubles among his four hits as Broadalbin-Perth beat Duanesburg 11-3. B-P also won a non-league game over Hoosic Valley 9-8 in eight innings. Brodryk Benton had a triple, double, two singles and three RBIs for B-P.

In non-league action, Queensbury topped Schalmont 9-4. Queensbury’s Jason Rodriguez had two hits and two RBIs, while Jack Sylvia tripled and walked three times. Ryan Brown had two hits and an RBI for Schalmont.

Fort Plain won 15-3 against Herkimer. Troy Butler had four singles, three RBIs and scored three runs to lead Fort Plain, while each of Brady Fureno and Taylor Gifford had two hits and two RBIs. Zach Reid and Bryce Thibodeau each had a single and two RBIs.

Voorheesville won 14-2 against Fonda-Fultonville. Kellen Chowenhill and Joey Saia each had two hits for Voorheesville, while Nick Angelo, Chowenhill and Mason Wight each had two RBIs. For Fonda, Cade Kearns and Brady Myles each had two hits.

Holy Trinity won 8-5 against Berne-Knox-Westerlo to secure coach Dave Bestle’s 300th career win. Paul Barber had a two-run home run and earned the win, while Caiden Larsen had a double, two singles and two RBIs for BKW, and Jacob Flower had two doubles.

Dante Marin had three hits and two RBIs to help Saratoga Central Catholic beat Schuylerville 9-3 in the championship game of the Phil Waring Memorial Tournament. In the first round, Schuylerville won 12-2 against Corinth. Schuylerville’s Paul Harshbarger had three hits and two RBIs, Ryan Yandow had a pair of hits and three RBIs. Spa Catholic won 12-5 over Glens Falls behind four RBIs each from Dylan Custer and Terel Tillman.

SOFTBALL

Kylee Rickard secured MVP honors as Canajoharie won the Mudville Tournament with a 7-6 win against Unatego in eight innings that followed an 8-1 win against Lansing. Against Unatego, Mackenzie Bowerman and Sam Keaney each had two hits, while Bowerman had two RBIs. Against Lansing, Rickard had three hits and two RBIs, and Bowerman had three hits. 

Shenendehowa won a pair of non-league games. Sophia Caputo and Jenna Rivers each two-run homers in the Plainsmen’s 7-4 win over Kellenberg Memorial. Caputo and Payton Zophy each belted three-run shots in a 12-0 triumph over Archbishop Molloy.
