Former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack is scheduled to deliver the commencement address at SUNY Cobleskill’s May 11 graduation ceremony.

Vilsack, also a former governor of Iowa, will be awarded an honorary degree as he delivers the ceremony’s keynote address, the college announced in a release Tuesday. Vilsack is also a graduate of Albany Law School.

“Given his impact on issues at the heart of the education we provide… Secretary Vilsack serves as an inspiration to our graduating students, and all who will be attending our 101st commencement,” SUNY Cobleskill President Marion Terenzio said in a statement.
