More than 250 local businesses were surprised with boxes of Dunkin’ Donuts courtesy of Starpoint Church in Clifton Park last Wednesday.
On April 17, teams of people from the church picked up the boxes of donuts, labeled them with stickers that read, “Donut You Know You’re Loved,” and then went out in teams to deliver the treats to businesses all over Southern Saratoga and northern Schenectady Counties, including drop offs in Clifton Park, Halfmoon, Glenville, Ballston Lake and Burnt Hills.
“Our heartbeat is sharing and showing the love of Jesus to the people in our community,” explained Roscoe Lilly, lead pastor at Starpoint Church. “We want people to know that we are for them, the church is for them, and that ultimately, Jesus is for them.”
The church members also wore shirts that said #FORYOU while making the deliveries.
The donut delivery is far from the first time that Starpoint Church has engaged in a charitable activity to benefit the local area.
Last November, Starpoint donated $2,855.00 to Cheryl’s Lodge, the CAPTAIN Community Outreach Center in during school breaks and weekend meals for its summer food program.
In January, the church donated $3,171 to the Shenendehowa Central School District’s Bountiful Backpacks program, and, in March, gave City Mission of Schenectady $2,750 for its “Dress for Success” Program.
The church was particularly busy this weekend, as 500 children attended its free Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 20, in addition to hosting five Easter services.
