SCHENECTADY — A man found dead Saturday evening inside a car outside a Schenectady supermarket died of a drug overdose, police said Monday.

The man had been reported missing three days earlier to state police in Clifton Park, where he lived, city police spokesman Sgt. Jeffrey McCutcheon said.

The man was 35. Police did not release his name.

Police were called to the parking lot of Price Chopper on Eastern Parkway just after 7 p.m. Saturday after someone from the store discovered a man unresponsive in a car, police said.

Responding officers found the man dead and evidence of drug use inside the vehicle, McCutcheon said.

The man had been living in Clifton Park and the person who reported him missing hadn’t seen him for a few days, McCutcheon said. Police determined he had come to Schenectady and had been staying locally for a few days until his death.
