ROTTERDAM – A Florida man illegally possessed a handgun in his car in Rotterdam, state police said Wednesday.
Kevin Brooks, 30, of Riviera Beach, Fla., was charged with one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor, state police said.
He was pulled over for an equipment violation on Burdeck Street just after 3:30 p.m. May 2, state police said.
Troopers soon determined Brooks possessed a .40-caliber handgun in his car, state police said.
Brooks is licensed to carry a handgun in the state of Florida, state police said, but he violated regulations of interstate transportation of the gun, making it illegal for him to possess in New York State, troopers said.
Brooks was arraigned and released on bail.
