SCHENECTADY – A woman drove drunk with a child in her car and hit a utility pole Sunday in Schenectady, authorities said.
Kara J. Schissler, 33, of Jersey City, NJ, was arrested Sunday and charged with two counts of felony driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, felonies.
Schissler is accused of having a 5-year-old child in her car and hitting the utility pole on Crane Street, near Van Velsen, just before 2 p.m. Sunday, authorities said. She also had a revoked license, police allege. No injuries were reported.
Her blood alcohol content tested at 0.18 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08, according to police allegations filed in court.
Schissler faces one felony DWI count related to the allegation of the child being in the car and the other was charged as a felony due to a prior DWI conviction, according to the allegations.
Schissler has since been released on bond and is due back in court later.
