
CAPITAL REGION — It’s hard to believe that this weekend is the unofficial start of the summer season. It’s the weekend to honor someone who has made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the military, as well as celebrate warmer weather. There are plenty of Memorial Day parades and remembrance ceremonies taking place around the Capital Region during the next few days. Here’s our list:
Saturday, May 25
Saratoga National Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony
Begins at 11 a.m.
Lake George American Legion Memorial Day Parade
Steps off at noon on Westbrook Road, then down Canada Street
Monday, May 27: Memorial Day
Fonda Memorial Day Parade
Begins at 9 a.m.; ceremony and presentation to follow in the village
Downtown Albany Memorial Day Parade
Steps off from Central Avenue and Quail Street at 9:30 a.m.
City of Watervliet Memorial Day Parade
Steps off from Watervliet High School at 10 a.m.
Memorial service to follow at Veteran’s Memorial Park on 2nd Avenue
Lake George Memorial Day Ceremony
10:30 a.m. at Battlefield Park
Historic Vale Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony
Begins at 10:30 a.m. in Veterans’ section near State Street entrance
Town of Bethlehem Memorial Day Parade
Steps off from Nathaniel Adams Blanchard Post 1040 at 11 a.m.
Ends at Bethlehem Memorial Park on Delaware Avenue
Memorial Day: Remembering Soldiers from Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey
11 a.m. and 3 p.m., Saratoga National Historical Park, 648 NY 32, Stillwater
Town of Glen Memorial Day Parade
Steps off at 11:45 a.m. from L.J. Hand Farm Center on NY 161
Followed by a ceremony at the Park, Logtown Road and NY 30A
59th Annual Town of Rotterdam Memorial Day Service
2 p.m. at Town Hall
