NISKAYUNA – A tree fell across Balltown Road in Niskayuna early Thursday, pulling down wires and blocking the road for the morning commute.
The tree fell at about 2 a.m. at the corner of Townsend and Balltown roads, waking neighbors with the crash and sparks, a neighbor said.
The downed tree pulled on wires and also toppled a nearby utility pole.
Balltown Road between Consaul Road and Route 7 remains closed to through traffic just before 8 a.m.
National Grid crews were on the scene assessing the situation and working to get the tree removed, wires up and road reopened.
It was unclear how long the process would take.
