NEWS/FEATURES, Grades 7–9, Honorable Mention
This review is about a small café in Schenectady. This place is called Annabelle’s Café. The service at this place is fantastic. The waiters and waitresses always have a great attitude and will treat you like family. Food does not take long to cook and is always served warm (unless you order something meant to be cold). Fountain drinks are served in a 20-ounce mason jar.
Let’s talk about their breakfast. If I’m giving my honest opinion, their breakfast isn’t that good. It depends on what you order. Say you order a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel with a side of home fries, that would be the best breakfast sandwich you have ever had (speaking from personal experience). But, if you order the breakfast bowl or the pancakes, well, there has been better. I would say that overall, their breakfast isn’t the best and it isn’t the worst. I would get it again if I received the opportunity.
Their lunch – fantastic. The only place better would be a home-cooked meal from grandma’s house. I would recommend a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and onion and a side of homemade chips. It’s a little greasy, but it’s pretty good. That’s the only thing that I have personally had for lunch, but I have heard that some reviews would suggest the lunch is better than breakfast.
They’re not open for dinner as they close at 3 p.m. But, based on the food on the menu, dinners wouldn’t be good. Anyway, the prices are fair. A breakfast sandwich with a side costs about $7. A drink is about $2, so a meal for one is about $10. For a filling meal, this is a good price. If you go to some other local diners and cafes, a meal with a drink could be anywhere from $10 to $24!
In the end, this restaurant is good. I would give it an eight out of 10. This would be a nice place to do some sort of family brunch. I hope you enjoy!
