CHARLESTON – A New Jersey woman was killed Saturday evening in a rollover at a “Mountain Madness” outdoor motorsports event in Charleston, Montgomery County Sheriff’s officials said.
Katie L. Falgiano, 19, of Budd Lake, N.J., was a passenger in a vehicle at the event when the vehicle she was in rolled over, officials said. She was ejected and partially pinned under the vehicle. She was flown to Albany Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The incident happened just before 9 p.m. at 240 Lape Road, officials said. Sheriff’s deputies, fire and EMS personnel responded.
Bystanders at the event pulled Falgiano from under the vehicle prior to emergency responders’ arrival, officials said.
The cause of the incident remained under investigation Monday.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by state police, the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department, GAVAC and LifeNet.
