Officials: Suspicious package found in Lottery headquarters’ mailroom

Package was later determined to not be harmful; City police continue to investigate

SCHENECTADY — City Police are investigating a suspicious package found in the mailroom of the state lottery headquarters Monday morning, officials said.

The discovery led to the clearing of the mailroom just after 11 a.m.

The package was determined to not be harmful and no injuries were reported, said Assistant Fire Chief Dan Mareno.

The Schenectady Fire Department responded to One Broadway Center at 11:01 a.m. and deployed its Special Incident Response Team. The fire department from Niskayuna-based Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory also aided in the investigation, which lasted two hours.

City Police continue to investigate the incident.
