Duanesburg motorcycle crash injures two

Cyclist and passenger hurt in crash outside Harley Rendezvous

DUANESBURG — Two Broadalbin residents were seriously injured when their motorcycle collided with a car Friday morning near the site of this year’s Harley Rendezvous Classic motorcycle rally, the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Department said.

Motorcycle operator Timothy M. Rote, 33, and passenger Barbara R. Wallach, 32, were taken to Albany Medical Center with what police said were serious injuries. Rote was transported by Life Net helicopter, while Wallach was transported by the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corp.

The crash occurred at 10:52 a.m. at the Batter Street entrance to the Indian Lookout Country Club property, where the motorcycle meet is being held this weekend.

Deputies said Rote and Wallach, on a 1999 Harley Davidson, were traveling west on Batter Street when they collided with a westbound 2014 Kia being driven by Kathy M. Snyder, 62, of Medusa. Then motorcycle was making a left turn into the Indian Lookout property when the crash occurred.

The Sheriff’s Department has filed no charges, but continues to investigate. State police, the Mariaville Fire Department and Rotterdam Emergency Medical Service all assisted at the scene.
