SCHENECTADY — A city man has been arrested for the alleged sexual abuse of a child under the age of 11, authorities said.
Joshua C. McCarty, 28, of Ward Avenue, faces one count of first-degree criminal sexual act and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, both felonies. He also faces three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanors.
McCarty is accused of sexually abusing the child in December 2017, according to police accusations filed in court.
McCarty was arraigned and ordered held on $100,000 bond. He posted bond Tuesday and was released.
If convicted of the top count against him, first-degree criminal sexual act, McCarty would face up to 25 years in prison.
