With the opening of Saratoga Race Course and three large concerts scheduled at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs police say Route 9 at the southern entrance to the city will be busy, and people should plan for it.
“Rt. 9 in Saratoga Springs (from I-87 Exit 13N to the Spa State Park’s The Avenue of Pines) is expected to experience high traffic volume and delays during the hours of 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 11; Friday, July 12; and Saturday, July 13,” police said.
Country star Luke Bryan is performing Thursday night, while Friday and Saturday feature the annual appearances of the Dave Matthews Band, which are always among the largest concerts on the SPAC schedule.
At the same time, traffic will be impacted by people heading south after being at Saratoga Race Course.
Police are suggesting that those attending the SPAC concerts plan to arrive well in advance of their perspective show times, and seek alternate routes, such as those using the Northway getting off at Exit 12 and proceeding to Route 50 in Ballston Spa, and north into Saratoga Springs.
