SCHOHARIE — State police released the identity of the driver killed in a Route 30 crash involving a dump truck on Tuesday afternoon as a Schoharie woman.

Janet M. Loucks, 64, died at the scene, state police said.

The investigation into the crash was ongoing, troopers said.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. near a private driveway between Route 30A and Barton Hill Road when Loucks’ vehicle entered the road from the driveway and collided with the northbound truck, troopers said.

The state police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit responded to assess the commercial vehicle, state police said.

The Schoharie County Sheriff’s Department, state Department of Transportation and first responders from the Schoharie and Central Bridge fire departments assisted at the scene.

The crash closed Route 30 in both directions between its intersections with Route 30A and Barton Hill Road for a time.

The site of Tuesday’s crash is less than a mile from the scene of the Oct. 6 crash at Route 30 and Route 30A that killed 20 people.
