COLONIE – A Scotia man has been arrested, accused of raping a child he met online, Colonie police said.

Malakhai Z. McCommons, 20, was arrested Monday and charged with one count of first-degree rape and predatory sexual assault against a child.

If convicted of  the predatory sexual assault count, he would face up to 25 years to life in state prison.

The investigation began Friday after the 12-year-old victim went to the Colonie Police Department to report what happened.
