ALBANY — Nonprofit organizations account for 14% to 28% of private-sector employment in Capital Region counties, the state Comptroller’s Office reported Tuesday.
The information was part of a report that showed New York state has the most nonprofit jobs of any state and the third-highest as a percentage of the private-sector workforce.
Over 81% of nonprofit jobs are in health care, education and social assistance in New York state.
The report found New York nonprofits had a workforce of 1.4 million in 2017, more than 11% of the 12.5 million nonprofit jobs nationwide.
