SCHOHARIE – A Tuesday morning fatal crash between a private vehicle and a dump truck happened after the vehicle driver suffered a medical event, state police said Tuesday.

Troopers did not elaborate on the medical event, but said that the preliminary crash investigation revealed that Janet M. Loucks, 64, suffered the medical event and was not in control of her vehicle at the time of the crash.

Loucks died at the scene, state police said.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. Tuesday near a private driveway between Route 30A and Barton Hill Road when Loucks’ vehicle entered the road from the driveway and collided with the northbound truck, troopers said.

The state police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit responded to assess the commercial vehicle, state police said.

The Schoharie County Sheriff’s Department, state Department of Transportation and first responders from the Schoharie and Central Bridge fire departments assisted at the scene.
