The Clifton Park Building and Grounds Department is working to repair park playground equipment after a weekend incident during which the toy was removed from park property.

The incident, according to town spokesman Matt Andrus, took place in a pocket park located in the Clifton Knolls Park District along Beechwood Drive.

According to social media posts from town residents, the equipment in question was a ride-able frog attached to a spring that moves backward and forwards.

The spring on the frog was broken, according to posts, enabling unnamed teens to pick up the frog and walk away with the ride.

A nearby town resident stopped the teens as they were walking down the road with the frog and returned it to the park.

Many neighbors lauded the intervention, and noted that their own young children love the ride. While some condemned the actions, others, who claimed to have firsthand knowledge of the situation, said that the teens thought the frog toy was trash, since it was already broken, which resulted in them leaving the park with it.

“The Building and Grounds Department is already on it, and aware of it,” Andrus said on Monday.
