ROTTERDAM – A Thursday morning fire damaged a Rotterdam home.

Two people home at the time got out unharmed. They got their dog out unharmed, as well, officials said.

Firefighters were called to the home at 2149 Van Wormer Road at 7:19 a.m., Rotterdam Fire District 2 Chief Kevin Thomas.

Rotterdam Fire District 2 responded to the fire and arrived to flames in a bedroom.

“The first crews went in the front door, made an attack and knocked it down,” Thomas said.

The bedroom suffered heavy fire damage. The house suffered heat and smoke damage elsewhere, Thomas said.

Rotterdam District 2 was assisted by the Carmen, Fort Hunter, Schonowe and South Schenectady fire departments.
