GLOVERSVILLE — The manager of the Chicago Mattress and Recliner Centers Corp. on Harrison Street in Gloversville has been arrested for allegedly defrauding customers and stealing money.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Fonda and Mayfield conducted a 5 1/2-month investigation that culminated in the arrest Friday of Jed. W. Suits, 41, of Palatine Bridge.

Suits was charged with third-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud.

State police said Suits took money from customers at the Chicago Mattress and Recliner Centers Corp. and then failed to fulfill their orders.

“He also stole well over $3,000 from the business,” reads the news release announcing Suits arrest.

Suits was arraigned Friday morning in Gloversville City Court and sent to the Fulton County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 secured bond.

Suits is due back in court on Monday.
