High schools: Niskayuna boys' soccer wins 6-0

The Niskayuna boys' soccer team beat Columbia 6-0 in Suburban Council play Tuesday.

Behind six different goal scorers, Niskayuna opened its Suburban Council boys’ soccer schedule Tuesday with a 6-0 victory over Columbia.

Mike Puccioni had one of the goals and picked up an assist, and Brennan Piper made seven saves for last year’s Section II Class AA runner-up.

Niskayuna led at the half 5-0.

Aidan McCafferey scored on a penalty kick three minutes into overtime to lift Bethlehem past Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 2-1.

Cyrus Guillet of Glens Falls and Feras Masri of Gloversville both recorded a hat trick as the teams battled to a 4-4 Foothills Council tie.

Defending state Class C girls’ soccer champion Stillwater beat Colonie 4-0 in a non-league game behind Brooke Pickett’s hat trick.

Liv Raucci struck for five goals and set up two more in Mohonasen’s 12-0 Colonial Council win against Lansingburgh. Amanda Gillenwalters piled up five goals and added an assist in Voorheesville’s 12-0 win over Cobleskill-Richmondville.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake began its bid for a 32nd consecutive Suburban Council girls’ volleyball title with a 25-8, 25-10, 25-11 sweep of Bethlehem. First-team all-state setter Claire Isaksen had 32 assists.

Chesney Romer delivered 24 kills, Charleigh Kilgallon collected 37 assists and nine aces and Columbia outlasted Niskayuna 25-18, 25-21, 11-25, 26-28, 25-18. Stefana Stan had 22 kills for Niskayuna.
