Troopers: Glenville man calls police after marijuana sale turns into robbery attempt, chase in Ballston

BALLSTON — A man who sold marijuana and then encountered a robbery attempt called police late Tuesday after the accused robber began chasing him in a car, state police said Thursday.

In the end, both the accused marijuana seller and accused buyer/attempted robber were arrested and now face felonies, state police said.

The incident began just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday evening on Route 50 in the Town of Ballston, state police said.

A man, later identified as Josiah Riley, 19, of Glenville, told dispatchers that he was driving there and two vehicles were following him in an attempt to assault him, state police said.

Troopers soon located the two suspect vehicles at USA Gas on Route 67 in Ballston Spa and interviewed the occupants, state police said.

Troopers soon determined that Riley had met up with them intending to sell them marijuana, state police said.

Once at the meet-up spot, the prospective buyer, identified as Logan Desjadon, 22, of Ballston Lake, walked up to Riley to complete the drug sale, but instead punched Riley and tried to take a bag of marijuana in Riley’s lap, state police said.

Riley put his car in reverse to flee and struck one of the other two vehicles as he left. They followed Riley, leading Riley to contact police, troopers said.

Desjadon was arrested and charged with one count each of third-degree attempted robbery, a felony, and third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned and ordered held.

Riley was arrested and charged with one count of third-degree criminal sale of marijuana, a felony, accused of selling more than 25 grams. He processed and released to appear in court at a later date.
