COBLESKILL — Megan Bowman has been named the new head coach of the SUNY Cobleskill women’s basketball program, the school announced Friday in a press release.
Bowman previously coached the Scotia-Glenville High School varsity girls’ basketball team for three seasons, compiling a 46-19 record.
“As we began the process to look for a new head coach, we knew we wanted a confident leader, a mentor, a student of the game and we found that coach,” SUNY Cobleskill athletic director Marie Curran-Headley said in the school’s press release. “Megan is an energetic leader with proven knowledge and style of the game that fits SUNY Cobleskill well. I am excited to watch our program blossom under her tutelage.”
A native of Dannemora, Bowman played college basketball for The Sage Colleges.
“I am extremely grateful to Marie Curran-Headley and the search committee for this opportunity,” Bowman said in the school’s press release. “I am excited to have inherited such a hardworking, talented and bright group of young women, along with an extremely dedicated and supportive coaching staff. I plan to build off the program’s foundation and the values of the Cobleskill community to ensure the success of our student-athletes.”
In an email, Scotia-Glenville athletic director Jamian Rockhill said the Tartans girls’ basketball head coaching position has not yet been filled.
Bowman replaces Katie Kollar who left SUNY Cobleskill for the head coaching position at Macalester College.
