A Clifton Park man was arrested after he attempted to steal from the Walmart in Halfmoon.
Jonathan M. Smith, 28, was arrested on Sept. 11, by the state police on charges of third-degree burglary, a felony, petty larceny and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.
On that afternoon Smith was arrested, troopers responded to the Walmart for a report of a larceny in progress, according to police reports.
When they arrived, they found Smith allegedly loading more than $180 worth of goods for which he had not paid into his car. Smith had entered Walmart after previously receiving a Notice of Restriction from Property advising him he is no longer allowed on Walmart property.
Smith also had a young child with him while committing the larceny. Smith was taken into custody and transported to state police substation in Clifton Park where he was processed. The child was released to a guardian.
Smith was arraigned in Clifton Park Town Court and sent to Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $1,000 or $2,000 bond. He is due back in court on Sept. 25.
