SCHENECTADY – City police have confirmed that shots were fired Monday afternoon in Hamilton Hill, a police spokesman said.

There were no immediate reports of injuries, police said.

The incident happened at about 4:20 p.m. at the corner of Summit Avenue and Hamilton Street.

Police officers and evidence markers could be seen in the street. Police spokesman Sgt. Jeffrey McCutcheon confirmed shell casings had been recovered.

Detectives and evidence technicians were processing the scene. No one was immediately in custody, McCutcheon said.
