PARIS — The component business of General Electric focused on generating electricity without carbon emissions said Tuesday it will it will go carbon-neutral on its own operations next year.
GE Renewable Energy plans to secure renewable electricity to all its facilities to reduce their carbon footprint and balance the remaining emissions through purchase of carbon offsets.
The Paris-based business has wind, hydropower, energy storage and grid operations. U.S. operations of its onshore wind power business are based in Schenectady.
GE Renewable Energy Chief Technology Officer Danielle Merfeld said: “By pursuing carbon neutrality, we will gain firsthand experience to further champion the sustainability goals of our customers and other partners. It’s our priority to walk the talk in our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint.”
