Clifton Park & Halfmoon Emergency Corps to host opioid overdose rescue training

The Clifton Park & Halfmoon Emergency Corps have launched opioid overdose rescue training as a free monthly class.

The training runs for 90 minutes and is open to any community member. Topics covered in the class include how opioids affect the body, how to recognize an overdose, and how to obtain and use intranasal Naloxone (NARCAN) to prevent an overdose death. The class will also include information about safe medication usage and storage, as well provide tips for having difficult conversations with teens or family members.

Instructors also will have information about addiction resources available in the community. The training class will be held at the agency’s main station at 15 Crossing Blvd. in
Clifton Park.

Registration is required so that instructors have enough NARCAN kits available for all participants. To register for a class, visit the CPHM website at www.cphmems.org/event.

Anyone who feels he or she may need NARCAN in the future or wants to have it on hand as a precaution is encouraged to attend one of the monthly trainings or call the CPHM Overdose Prevention Program at (518) 371-3880 ext. 154.
