SARATOGA COUNTY — The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors is expected to adopt a resolution promoting awareness of people with autism and other special needs when it meets Tuesday in Ballston Spa.
The board’s Law and Finance Committee recommended approved on Wednesday, following a presentation from state Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh, R-Ballston, who is promoting a “ThinkDIFFERENTLY” initiative. She has promoted it at the Saratoga County Fair, at special movie nights, and elsewhere.
“It is extremely rewarding to see such prominent organizations in our community embrace, support and help to further develop events and activities for people of all abilities,” Walsh said. “The ThinkDIFFERENTLY initiative strives to foster a more inclusive community for our neighbors with special needs. Our state and communities are stronger because of our diversity and differences.”
“It’s important that we break down barriers that those with disabilities, and their caregivers, face every day,” said Halfmoon Supervisor Kevin Tollisen, chairman of the Board of Supervisors.
