Niskayuna to review cable TV franchise agreements


The Niskayuna Town Board will host an informational session regarding the renewal process for cable television franchise agreements Thursday at 7 p.m. at Edwin D. Reilly Jr. Niskayuna Town Hall.

The informational meeting will follow 4 p.m. budget workshop session. 

Carol McTague, community relations director at the New York State Public Service Commission, will speak at the informational session. McTague will provide residents with an opportunity to ask questions or share concerns during a Q&A portion of the session.

McTague has reviewed the town’s 10-year cable franchise agreement with Time Warner (Spectrum) and is currently assisting the town in negotiations for a proposed renewal agreement.

Town officials have informed McTague of public comments sent to [email protected] last month.

The New York State Department of Public Service provides free consultation services and assists municipalities with the cable franchise renewal process.
