ROCHESTER — Ike Irabor scored three touchdowns, and Joseph Ferreira added two as the Union College football team erased an early 10-7 deficit to beat Rocherster 47-19 in Liberty League action on Saturday at Fauver Stadium.

The victory improved the Dutchmen to 2-0 in the league and 5-0 overall. They are tied for first place with Ithaca.

Irabor opened the scoring 1:39 into the game when he scored on a 4-yard run. But the Yellow Jackets (0-2, 0-6) scored the next 10 points on a Dawson Klinger 29-yard field goal and a 2-yard TD run by Derek Bufano.

Ferreira helped regain the lead for the Dutchmen when he scored on a 3-yard run late in the first quarter. Ferreira scored again when he caught a 46-yard TD pass from quarterback William Bellamy.

That ignited a 20-point second quarter. Bellamy hit Griffin Beal for a 13-yard scoring strike with 6:19 left, and Irabor scored on a 3-yard run with 48 seconds remaining. The only blemish in the quarter for Union was when Rochester’s Robert Grant returned a blocked point after attempt 98 yards for a 2-point score after Beal’s TD.

Irabor’s third TD came on a 30-yard run early in the third quarter.

Marcos Rodriguez kicked a pair of field goals in the second half for Union.

Irabor gained 84 yards on 11 carries. Bellamy was 12-for-20 for 224 yards. Andre Ross Jr. caught three passes for 102 yards.

The Dutchmen host St. Lawrence next Saturday at 1 p.m.

GENEVA — The Statesmen scored 17 third-quarter points to take a 31-7 lead, and they went on to beat the Engineers.

RPI (1-1, 4-2) scored 20 points in the fourth quarter to make things interesting.
