1936: Former heavyweight boxing champion Jack Dempsey is honored at a testimonial at the Schenectady Elks Club.
1949: WGY disc jockey Earle Pudney stands on his head on the sidewalk at State and Erie in a stunt to raise money for the Community Chest.
2014: Local residents cheer as Tony’s Meat Market at 2033 Broadway in Schenectady — badly damaged in a 2009 fire — is finally demolished.
