In celebration of The Daily Gazette’s 125th anniversary, the newspaper will publish newsworthy items from past editions and past decades.

On November 4:

1913: J. Teller Schoolcraft is elected mayor of Schenectady on the Citizens’ ticket, defeating socialist incumbent George R. Lunn.

1958: Schenectady Mayor Samuel S. Stratton wins election to the U.S. Congress, the first Democrat in 42 years to win the 32nd District.

1975: Albany County Clerk James J. Coyne Jr. claims victory over Theresa Cooke and Gen. A.C. O’Hara in the county’s first-ever county executive election.
