ALBANY — Alexi Schecter scored 31 points as the UAlbany women’s basketball team opened the 2019-20 season with an 82-78 non-conference overtime victory over Columbia at SEFCU Arena on Tuesday night.

Schecter was 13-for-15 from the field and also led the Great Danes with 11 rebounds.

She finished a three-point play for a 79-76 lead with 2:37 left in overtime, and Amanda Kantzy made two free throws with five seconds left to produce the final score.

Kyara Frames scored 17 points for UAlbany, and Kantzy had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Kaitlyn Davis led Columbia with 23 points and 13 rebounds.

The Great Danes trailed by five points heading into the fourth quarter before outscoring Columbia 24-19 to force overtime.
