Clifton Park man charged with domestic assault

CLIFTON PARK — A Clifton Park man was arrested after he allegedly used his hand to keep a person from breathing.

Nauman S. Khan, 36, was arrested on Nov. 7 by the New York State Police in Clifton Park.

According to a press release, troopers responded to a residence in Clifton Park shortly after 10 p.m. Nov. 7 for a report of a domestic incident. Upon arriving, they interviewed the victim who stated they had been involved in a physical altercation with Khan. 

During the incident, he allegedly covered their mouth, restricting their breathing, and took their cell phone, keeping the victim from calling the police. The incident took place in the presence of a child and in violation of a standing order of protection.

Khan was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a class E felony, as well as criminal obstruction of breathing, third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal mischief, all misdemeanors.

Khan turned himself in to the police in Clifton Park and was processed. He was arraigned in Clifton Park Town Court and released on his own recognizance to await a later court date.
