Saratoga Sheriff: Wilton man burned own home after judge issued order of protection

WILTON – A Wilton man set fire to his own home after a judge issued an order of protection against him, Saratoga County Sheriff’s officials said.

No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported, officials said.

James T. Love, 45, of Cordova Way, Wilton, was arrested and charged with third-degree arson and first-degree criminal contempt, both felonies.

Love was charged after an investigation into a fire at his home that occurred at about 1:15 a.m. Nov. 2, officials said.

At the time of the fire, Love had a full stay-away order of protection against him, issued the day before the fire, officials said.

Love was arraigned and ordered held on $75,000 bail. He is to return to court later.

The Greenfield Fire District was assisted at the scene of the fire by the Wilton Fire District and the Saratoga County Cause and Origin Team.
