State boys’ volleyball: Shenendehowa, Burnt Hills advance

The Shenendehowa and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake boys’ volleyball teams both posted three-set sub-regional sweeps Friday and advanced to Saturday’s regional championship matches at Fayetteville-Manlius High School.

Shenendehowa defeated Suffern 25-17, 25-21, 25-20 in Division 1 play behind Tyler Christensen’s 11 kills and Rohan Gangaraju’s 28 assists. Kellan Kennedy and Jason Aubrey both added six kills for the Plainsmen, and Joe Meyer had seven defensive digs.

Burnt Hills beat Eastchester 25-16, 25-20, 25-9 in Division 2 action behind Aidan Calhoun’s seven aces and 30 assists, Jake Baker’s 10 kills, and Jimmy Mion’s eight kills and three blocks. Cedric Sirianni contributed five kills and four aces.

Shenendehowa will meet Cicero-North Syracuse Saturday at 7 p.m. at Fayetteville-Manlius. Burnt Hills will take on Jamesville-DeWitt at 5 p.m.

Burnt Hills finished second in the state in 2018. This year’s state tournament in Albany is set for next Saturday.
