10 numbers to know from Siena men's basketball's triple-overtime loss at Yale

With Wednesday’s 100-89 defeat at Yale, a third consecutive Siena men’s basketball season included the Saints playing at least one triple-overtime game.

Ten players played at least 35 minutes in the contest, while six players scored at least 17 points. Siena never led by more than four points, while Yale’s game-high lead was the 11-point one it had when the game finally ended.

Beyond all that, here are 10 numbers to know from Siena’s triple-overtime defeat that dropped the team to 2-3 on the season.

Minutes played for Siena sophomore Jalen Pickett, the game’s lone competitor to play the duration of the contest. Pickett had 17 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists without a turnover in the loss, but shot 6 of 21 from the field.

Lead changes during the contest’s 55 minutes. The game was also tied 21 times. In all, Yale led for 30:32, Siena led for 11:16 and the teams were tied for 13:12. Siena had leads in the final minute of both regulation and the first overtime.

Career-high rebounds total for Siena junior Manny Camper, a total that was the most by a Siena player since O.D. Anosike had 21 rebounds in a 2013 game. Camper also had a career-high 22 points despite shooting 6 of 21 from the field. Previously this season, Camper had a 17-rebound game.

Percentage of 3-pointers Siena made. The Saints shot 4 of 22 from 3-point territory, while Yale made 12 of 29.

Consecutive field goals Siena missed to end Wednesday’s game. After redshirt sophomore Don Carey made a basket with less than two minutes to go in the first overtime to put Siena up 79-78, the Saints missed their final two shots of the first extra session. Siena shot 0 of 6 in the second overtime and 0 of 10 in the third overtime. The Saints’ final 10 points were scored with free throws. For the game, Siena made 27 of 82 shots, while Yale made 35 of 68.

Siena’s losing margin, which was two points off from the most lopsided game decided in overtime this season, according to sports-reference.com. A Nov. 5 game saw George Mason win 68-55 against Navy in a single-overtime game.

Free throws attempted without a miss for Camper. The junior made 9 of 9 free throws against Yale after making 12 of 25 free throws in Siena’s first four games this season. For his career, Camper is a 55.6% shooter from the foul line.

Blocked shots for Yale’s Jordan Bruner, who flirted with a quadruple-double despite not recording 10 of any single statistic. In 44 minutes before fouling out, Bruner had eight points, nine rebounds and nine assists to go along with his seven blocks. Azar Swain had 25 points to lead Yale.

Triple-overtime games Siena has been involved in during its last three seasons. Siena won the first of those four games with a 59-57 decision against Saint Peter’s, but then has lost 93-89 to Monmouth, 107-100 to Quinnipiac and 100-89 to Yale.

Made field goals for Siena’s bench players. The Saints used four reserves for a total of 34 minutes, and they shot 0 of 12. Senior Sammy Friday had one point of the Siena bench, while freshman Jordan King had three.
