MILTON – A driver and her passenger were arrested after the driver was pulled over in a DWI stop, state police said this week.
The passenger was arrested, accused of fighting with troopers during the stop, injuring one trooper’s hand, state police said.
The incident happened shortly after 11 p.m. Friday on Geyser Road in Milton, state police said. State police stopped the vehicle for a traffic infraction.
As the trooper interviewed the driver, identified as Jody A. Busier, 48, of Ballston Spa, the trooper smelled alcohol. Busier then failed sobriety tests and was taken into custody, state police said.
Busier resisted being placed in handcuffs and then, once in the patrol car, began kicking the interior, attempting to damage it, state police said.
Her blood alcohol content later tested at 0.13 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08, state police said.
Busier’s front seat passenger became agitated during the stop and combative, state police said. A second trooper responded to assist and attempted to take that man, identified as Lyle M. Bushey, 55, of Ballston Spa, into custody, state police said.
Bushey then began to fight with troopers. He was soon put in handcuffs with the assistance of a Saratoga County Sheriff’s deputy, state police said.
In the process, however, the trooper suffered a hand injury. A release did not indicate whether the trooper required medical assistance.
Busier was charged with driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, misdemeanors. She was released to appear in court later.
Bushey was charged with one count of second-degree assault, a felony, along with misdemeanor obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. He was arraigned and ordered held on $5,000 bail.
