SCHENECTADY – A Schenectady man has been charged in a November shooting that left a victim with a gunshot wound to the foot, authorities said.
The victim was identified in paperwork filed in court by police as the accused shooter’s brother and the shooting as domestic-related.
Juan O. Peguero, Jr., 26, of Broadway, was arrested Dec. 20 and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, felonies.
Peguero is accused of firing two shots from a small black handgun just after 3 p.m. Nov. 21 while inside Mo’s Food Mart, 1575 Becker St., according to police allegations filed in court.
One of the shots hit the brother in the right foot, causing serious injury, according to the police allegations. Another person was also in the vicinity at the time, but was unhurt.
Peguero was arraigned and ordered held on $150,000 bond. His bond has since been posted and he has been released, City Court officials said.
He was being represented by attorney John Seebold. Seebold couldn’t be immediately reached for comment Thursday afternoon.
