SCHENECTADY — Local officials says Rivers Casino & Resort is driving conference business to Schenectady.
The venue hosted almost 200 meetings, conferences and special events in 2019, including trade shows and a national convention.
“By bringing more people to the area, we are able to showcase all the great things in and around Schenectady County and how much we have to offer businesses, individuals and families,” said Anthony Jasenski, chairman of the Schenectady County Legislature.
Jeff McDonald, Chairman of Discover Schenectady and a member of the Schenectady County Legislature, said Rivers has “exceeded our expectations with their outstanding work in attracting meetings and special events to our community.
“We are proud of the work that our team at Discover Schenectady has done to support them in their efforts to bring more visitors to Schenectady County.”
Meetings and conferences brought more than 21,000 people to Schenectady County, generating 7,850 room nights at The Landing Hotel located adjacent to the Events Center, plus additional room bookings at nearby hotels, officials said.
“Meeting planners are responding very well to our conference facilities with adjoining hotel, excellent service and convenient parking,” said Justin Moore, general manager of Rivers Casino & Resort. “We are very pleased to host these meetings and bring thousands of additional visitors to Schenectady.”
The Events Center has the capacity to host meetings with up to 1,000 guests with banquet seating for 600. The casino has parking for almost 2,400 cars in a parking garage and surface lots directly adjacent to the Events Center.
Also, special events sponsored by Rivers Casino & Resort such as Harbor Jam attracted an additional 30,000 plus visitors to Schenectady County this year.
