SARATOGA COUNTY – Two men have been arrested in connection with separate felony strangulation cases, one in Milton and the other in the town of Saratoga, Saratoga County Sheriff’s officials said.
In the Milton case, Justin A. Peters, 29, of Milton, is accused of applying pressure to the neck of another person, causing that person to suffer a physical impairment. He is also accused of preventing her from calling 911 by removing a cell phone from her hand.
A child was also present during the incident, officials said. The incident happened just after 2:30 a.m. on Sunday at an address on Rowland Street, officials said.
Peters faces one count each of second-degree strangulation and first-degree criminal contempt, both felonies. He also faces misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
Peters was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
In the town of Saratoga case, deputies arrested Matthew T. Washburn, 30, of Hudson Falls, and charged him with one count of second-degree strangulation, a felony.
Washburn is accused of choking another person to the point of unconsciousness at an address on Route 30 South just after midnight Jan. 2, officials said Sunday.
Washburn was arraigned and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail on bail to await further proceedings in the matter, officials said.
