Amsterdam girls’ basketball tops Maple Hill

Gannon scores 19 points, Hoefs scores 18 in non-league win

Andie Gannon scored 14 of her team-high 19 points in the second half for the Amsterdam girls’ basketball team in a 63-49 non-league win Sunday over Maple Hill at Columbia-Greene 
Community College.

Four players combined to score all 63 points for Amsterdam (12-2). In addition to Gannon’s 19 points, Amsterdam got 18 from Sydney Hoefs, 14 from Antonia May and 12 from Jackie Stanavich. Natasha Strock scored 19 points to lead Maple Hill in the matchup of state-ranked teams. Amsterdam is ranked No. 11 in Class A, while Maple Hill is No. 3 in Class C.

In Wasaren League boys’ basketball play, Mechanicville’s Josh Germain scored 19 points and Devin Garland scored 15 in a 71-57 win over Waterford-Halfmoon.
