State police investigating fatal Friday Schaghticoke crash; Two killed

SCHAGHTICOKE – The state police are investigating a Friday morning two-car, head-on crash in Schaghticoke that left two people dead, troopers said.

Killed in the crash were the occupants of one of vehicles, Daniel J. Taber, 44, and Michael Foster, 41, both of Hoosick Falls, state police said. They died at the scene.

State police identified the driver of the other vehicle, who survived, as Paul J. Demarco, 49, of Mechanicville. He was taken to Albany Medical Center via helicopter with injuries state police described as non-life-threatening.

The crash happened just before 7 a.m. Friday in the area of Route 67 and Muriel Lane in Schaghticoke, state police said.

The two vehicles involved were traveling in opposite directions when they hit head-on, state police said.

The circumstances leading up to the crash remained under investigation, state police said in a release Friday. No updates had been issued as of Sunday.
