Clifton Park’s reigning soup champion, Ravenswood Pub, swept the competition for another year during Saturday’s annual Winterfest event in town.

Winterfest, an annual festival that hosts both indoor and outdoor winter activities, along with the town’s hit singing competition “Clifton Park Idol” has long been a destination event for families looking to escape the winter blues and venture out of their house, but not go too far away, for an afternoon.

Held in the ballroom of the Hilton Garden Inn in Clifton Park, “Taste of Clifton Park” is one of Winterfest’s most popular and highly attended events year after year.

The competition sees huge swaths of people come through the door to sample as many of the soups provided by local restaurants as they can for free.

This year’s competitors included the Brick Tavern & Grille, Classic Crust Catering, Coburg Village, Mocha Lisa’s Caffe, Park 30, Peddlers Bar & Bistro, Ravenswood Pub, Rusty Nail Grill & Tavern and The Vista at Van Patten Golf. Ravenswood won the day with its famous seafood corn chowder.

Prior to announcing the competition results on Saturday, Clifton Park Town Supervisor Phil Barrett noted that the comments he had received about the competition in general had been overwhelmingly positive, even more positive than they had been in years past, he said.

“That’s really a tribute to everybody that participated today,” Barrett said before announcing Ravenswood as the winner of the competition.

Brick Tavern & Grille grabbed second place while Peddler’s and 30 Park tied for third.
