Eleven more Section II wrestlers added their name to the state tournament as ‘wild card’ entries.

New additions to the state tournament include Schalmont junior Mark Amedore at 106 pounds and senior David Leon at 160 pounds. Berne-Knox-Westerlo/Middleburgh senior Tyler Goodmote earned a wild card spot at 182.

Columbia sophomore Michael Altomer was the lone Division I (large schools) wild card entry, the remainder came from Division II (small schools).

Wrestlers who did not earn an automatic berth as a Section II champion may receive a wild card position utilizing a four-point formula that includes: current season record, placement points based on prior year sectional and state place-finishes, power points based on the past six-year history of place-winners from a section had at the state tournament and competition points based on wins against previous state champions and state place-finishers.

Other Section II wild card entries include: Avi Berg (Glens Falls) at 99, Kieran Cullen (Greenville) at 106, Torin Bishop (Tamarac) at 113, Patrick Moore (Watervliet) at 132, Justin Hoffman (Hadley-Luzerne/Lake George) at 152, Nick McNulty (Watervliet) at 195 and Jacob Clear (Warrensburg/Bolton) at 285.

The state tournament will be held Feb. 28 and 29 at the Times Union Center in Albany.
