ROTTERDAM — Two people were killed and two others injured in a Monday night two-car crash on Chrisler Avenue in Rotterdam, police said.

Police on Tuesday afternoon identified those killed as driver Frankie Rivera, 31, and his passenger Brendalee Asencio, 39, both of Schenectady. They died at the scene.

Those injured were a 34-year-old man from Rotterdam and a 30-year-old woman from Schenectady. They were taken to Albany Medical Center with injuries not believed to be life threatening, police said.

The crash happened at about 10:18 p.m. Monday near the state DOT building at 3008 Chrisler Ave., police said.

The vehicles were headed in opposite directions and collided after Rivera lost control of his vehicle and slid into the other car’s path, police said.

The impact caused both vehicles to roll over onto the northern shoulder of Chrisler, police said.

State police responded to assist with the accident investigation and performed an accident reconstruction, police said.

The accident remained under investigation Tuesday afternoon. Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has information on it is asked to contact the Rotterdam Police Department at 518-355-7331.
