Colonie Police: Man shot and killed Sunday at Central Avenue Days Inn

COLONIE – A man was shot and killed Sunday at the Days Inn on Central Avenue, police said Sunday afternoon.

Several people associated with the victim were being interviewed, police said, but no arrests were immediately announced.

The man killed, age 29, had been staying at the motel since mid-March. His name wasn’t immediately released, pending notification of family.

Police were called to the Days Inn, 1606 Central Ave., at 12:13 p.m. for a report of a man shot in room 337. Responding officers found the man with a gunshot wound to his groin area, police said.

Officers rendered first aid until Colonie EMS arrived, but the manf died shortly afterward, police said.

An investigation into the circumstances of the shooting was underway, police said. In addition to the interviews, a search warrant was being executed on the room.

“There is no indication that there is any danger to the public nor any additional pertinent information to pass along to the public,” police said in a release.
